LUXAFLEX DUETTE (DOUBLE PLEATED BLIND)

The Duette blind has a unique honeycomb pleat, which allows the cord to be hidden within it, unlike the single pleat which has cords visible running through the fabric. In the winter it keeps the heat in and in the summer keeps it out using the same technology as Double Glazed Windows, it can also change the acoustics of a large area by dampening the sound echo and has the added benefit of looking stylish. We supply blinds some more expensive and some cheaper than Duette, but there is nothing to touch this product on what it can achieve once fitted to a window. See IMAGE 1 for cross section view.

As already mentioned under Conservatory roof blind and Velux & Skylight sections, the Pleated Blinds are very versatile. Used in roofs and skylights, circular, sloping, and shaped windows. This section is about side window blinds, which can be used on doors, windows, gable ends and awkward shaped side blinds. They have many different stacking options to overcome most situations that occur in todays conservatories and new homes. When side blinds are fitted to side windows of a conservatory for instance, the blinds if fitted in front of protruding handles, will need to be extended forward to clear the obstruction. This is done by means of an extension bracket, which projects the blind forward enough so the blind can operate without fouling the handle when raised or lowered. Using the extension bracket, which by the way is not always necessary as some windows do not have protruding handles, is my preferred method as the look is friendlier covering a larger area with one blind. However, there is another way of installing the blinds and that is fitting directly to the inside glazing bead close to the glass of the window or door see IMAGE 2. This allows you to have access to handles without any interference from the blinds as when you open a window or door the blind will move with it.This is done by fitting the top of the blind to the top angle bead and another rail to the bottom angle bead you then use your hand to move the blind up and down to desired position. This method of fixing means that you increase the number of blinds you have as you have a blind to fit every panel of glass but it gives you the added benefit of having the blinds move from top to bottom or bottom to top depending on your requirements.

The stacking options for pleated blinds are comprehensive and give you the chance to have the exact control of light you require. Stacking of a blind, is where the blind ends up when the window is exposed and letting light into a room. The stacking options for pleated blinds are as follows, stacking to the top of the window as per standard, stacking to the bottom of the window, stacking to the centre of a window, stacking to the top and bottom of a window and pulling to the middle, totally free to stack at top or bottom of window. As you can probably see, there are many choices to suit individual needs.

IMAGE 3 to your right shows the ultimate pleated blind, using 2 fabrics on one headrail, which normally would mean using a voile fabric on top of a blackout fabric, giving you 2 blinds in one. This is great in any room but particularly good in bedrooms and dressing rooms. They both stack to the top of the window, when one cord is released the blackout blind is lowered to give blackout conditions in the room, when the other cord is released the voile operates and falls on top of the blackout blind, allowing light to filter in to the room. The example in the image shows the voile at the bottom and the light resistant fabric at the top.
