Plantation Shutters

Whatever your chosen decoration style, Luxaflex plantation shutters are sure to enhance your interior. Stunning to look at, superbly practical and durable too. For those of you who don't know the concept of plantation shutters or interior wooden shutters as they are sometimes known, will be suprised at how they transform your room, by controlling light and at the same time giving the decorative look of a piece of expensive furniture.

Plantation shutters from Luxaflex are made from premium quality, kiln dried solid hardwood. Basswood is a pale beautifully grained timber, that is light, strong and extremely stable. Slats and profiles are carefully prepared and undergo an exacting process, to ensure a fine, lustrous and durable finish. The collection has 17 colour choices with a mixture of dark and light stained wood and six painted colours, in whites and creams. If there is not a colour or shade to suit your requirements, we provide a custom painted service, which gives you the choice of thouands of colours, using either Dulux, Farrow & Ball, Sanderson etc. All we need from you, is the colour number and name of the paint and we will produce shutters for your doors, windows, and room dividers and any other areas, that you require light control and privacy.

The shutters come in four louvre widths 32mm, 48mm, 64mm and 89mm, they can be fixed into a recess or outside recess. If fixed into a recess, when the doors are folded back, the stack will protrude slightly into the room, whereas when fixed outside a recess, the door panels when folded back, will fold against the wall. However, in our system we have a Z profile Frame which allows us to fit the shutter to the very front edge of the recess. By using this profile frame we can give enough clearance to allow the shutter doors to stack flat back onto the wall. The other plus point using Z profile is that it has a lipped edge and this moulding frames the recess edges to give a clean finish and hides any recess abnormalities which i am afraid most windows have.

To those of you who have never come accross interior Shutters before this is a brief description of the product. When a site visit is made to your property we discuss the number of panels and configurations available to tie in with the size of your window or doors. On an average window you will have around 2 shutter panels each side so when the shutter is closed 4 shutter panels will be seen. All the panels are hinged so when the shutter is pulled back they concertina back on themselves. When the shutters are accross the window the control of light can be adjusted by tilt rods which are inset into the front of the shutter, these tilt rods move the louvres and work the same way a venetian blind.
