Roman Blinds

Roman Blinds

(See image 1) Roman Blinds fold up into horizontal pleats and when the blind is down the fabric is flat. Standard control is cord and cleat, which you tie off at the desired height. The other option is a continuous chain which does not need to be secured on a cleat, you just pull the chain to raise and lower, electrical control is also available.

Roman blinds can be fitted inside a window reveal but will take a great deal of light out of the room when the blind is stacked up so we normally advise installation be outside the window recess. A flat upholstered pelmet can be made for outside recess applications if required. This can be a very subtle straight pelmet with not much depth or a grand shaped pelmet with contrast or self trim. The reason for a facia or pelmet over a roman blind is to cover the sides i.e the control cords which can sometimes be seen when fixing outside a recess.

Roman blinds would normally be made fully lined with the choice of standard lining or a blackout (light resistant) version. We can also if required interline the blind which gives the folds more body and a more elegant look. There are many types of finish can be made including piping or lipping to base, frill or border to base, inset borders to the sides, tab top heading or pelmet.

Cascade Roman Blinds

(See image 2) As with the standard Roman blind the Cascade Blind has horizontal pleats, the difference being, that when the blind is let down the pleats are held in position, thus giving you a waterfall effect of fabric. Control options are the same as the standard Roman blind.

The Cascade Roman will however use slightly more fabric because of the permanent folds.
