The worst enemy of the Awning, is high winds and as long as you retract the awning when wind speeds pick up, there will be no problem, however, if you want the comfort of knowing that if you go out or forget to retract the Awning when wind speeds become excessive, then climate control is the answer. Somfy Climate controls consist of a combined wind and sun sensor.

The sun and wind sensor, is fitted in a position that can give a good reading of wind and sun conditions at your particular location. It is then wired to the power source of the awning and programmed to talk to the awning (i.e tell it what to do and when to do it). When wind speeds pick up to a certain speed, which can be set, the awning will be instructed to switch on and retract back to the wall. When the sun shines, the awning will come out and when sun goes in, so will the Awning.

Don’t be concerned about the Awning going in and out everytime the sun shines and fades as it has a built in time device, which waits until the sun has been shining or fading for 15 to 20 minutes continually, before it makes the decision to activate. The sun and wind sensor can be seen below images 1 & 2.

Lights

Lights can also be added to the underside of the Awning in the form of eyeball lighting, which can be tilted to achieve the desired angle. The lights are controlled by the same remote control as used for the Awning. Available in 1700mm light box with 4 downlighters or 3400mm lightbox with 8 downlighters.

Fabrics

Dickson, world leader in sun blind fabric manufacturing and present in more than 100 countries world wide, have over 130 designs in its UK diklon 32 collection. Being 100% solution dyed acrylic, the fabric has excellent colour retaining qualities and is mildew and water resistant. All dickson fabrics are treated with perlgard XT27, which is a special water repelling and stain proofing treatment for awning fabric, ensuring quality and consistency of colour and fabric.
